  • Create your first post on your Google Site in 6th Grade / Quarter 1 by clicking on the New Post button:
    • Add a title for the post - in this case that would be something like Make Your Mark or Magazine Cover
    • Add a description of the assignment. Remember, you are describing it for someone visiting your site who doesn't know how you did the work or why you did it. In this case make sure that you mention that:
      • This was created to show how you plan to make your mark on the world.
      • You used Paint.NET (and spelling is important and should be as written here!) to create your self-portrait and to create the magazine cover. You could optionally talk about the tools within Paint.NET that you used, if you wish.
    • Add you actual magazine cover image (the PNG version) to the post under your description. Use Insert / Image to do this. You will need to resize this and will probably want to center it. It would be a good idea to add a sentence under the image to tell visitors to your site that they could click on the image on your post to see a larger version of your magazine cover.
    • Under the magazine cover image, add a reflection on this assignment:
      • Why do you feel you will make your mark on the world in this way? What are you doing now to help make that happen?

      • What did you learn? Once again, be specific!
      • What did you do well on this assignment? What do you think you could improve? Be specific.
  • Continue customizing your Google Site, if not done. Remember the primary purpose of this site is to be an ePortfolio of the work you do in the Computer Lab during Middle School. Make sure that:
    • You have an About Me page that talks about academics as well as other things you like to do. No personal identifying information here!
    • Your Site Title must be appropriate for school and should be something you would be proud for anyone to see if you were applying to their High School in 8th Grade.
    • The font choice for your content area (what you will be writing in your posts) should be easy to read and must have both upper and lower case letters.
    • There is good contrast between your background color and the font colors - all of them including links and visited links. You want visitors to your site to be able to read what you write and if I can't read it, I can't grade it.
